Student Spotlight: Veronica Ramirez– VSFX

Veronica Ramirez is a Colombian VFX Compositor. She is currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts in Visual Effects.

Before coming to SCAD, she worked on multiple projects as a professional compositor. This series includes El Rey: Vicente Fernandez for Netflix, The Marked Heart season 2 for Netflix, and Mariachis for HBO Max. She returned to school to keep growing as an artist since she studied Social Communication with a Film Emphasis during her undergraduate studies.

Veronica has focused all of her attention on improving her skills as a compositor and has been able to participate in relevant projects during her time at SCAD, such as invitation classes with mentors from Harbor and The Mill. In these classes, students interact in a professional environment in order to create professional VFX products.

She is also working on developing her MFA thesis, a mix of live-action and CGI integration, which shows how magical realism is represented in film using VFX. In this film, she works as a director, VFX supervisor, and compositor, allowing her to collaborate with multiple artists, which she loves to do.
