Student Spotlight: Katherine Faye Nitti – VSFX

Hi hi! I’m Kat, junior VSFX major and current Editor in Chief for RenderQ! I mostly focus in FX or compositing, but I have experience and love for every part of the pipeline.

I started studying film at 16, but have held a love for visual storytelling since I was young. I always aim to incorporate story into my work, mostly drawing inspiration from history, personal stories from myself, friends, or family, and other films or artwork.

Growing up with movies like Marvel, Star Wars, and Godzilla sparked my fascination with using technology and innovation to bring the impossible to the screen – especially when there’s action involved. And I strive to create films that have emotion and meaning that an audience can resonate with.

But as much as I value the product and the work itself, I find the collaboration and relationships built behind the scenes just as important as the creation itself.
