Career Fair Breakdown

With the Career Fair coming up, it can be a bit overwhelming with all of the information about getting your portfolio ready or preparing for interviews. This article will be a quick rundown of what the career fair is, how to access it, and the resources that SCAD offers so you can feel better prepared.

As a SCAD student, you have probably gotten many emails saying that the Career Fair is coming up. It will be happening over the course of two days, February 18th and 25. But what specifically is it, and how do you access it? The SCAD Career Fair is where companies come to SCAD looking for creative professionals like yourself. These companies come to SCAD and set up time slots for group meetings or one-on-one meetings with students. In years past, the fair has been here in Savannah, but the Career Fair is online this year. You can access it through this link here:

https://app.careerfairplus.com/

  • Make sure to search for “Savannah College of Art and Design” and click either of the two dates the career fair is happening.
  • Once you are in the app, you can then see the list of employers coming and either set up meetings or pop into a group meeting at the time slots they have listed.

So can only juniors and seniors attend the career fair? No! Anyone can! You just have to fill out some requirements in the SCAD Job Portal if you are a first- or second-year student. To get there, go to MySCAD > Student Workspace > Career and Alumni Sucess > SCAD Job Portal and Career Resources > Then, once you’re there, it should pop up on the home page.

Once you access the career fair website and schedule meetings with employers, you’re set! Then, log back into the career fair app and click “meetings” on the specific day of your employers’ meetings. There you can find each specific video conference link for your meetings.

If you’re feeling a bit nervous about your interview skills, no worries! SCAD has resources for you to practice interviews and other resources that you can read in the “SCAD Job Portal and Career Resources” link. Email or set up an appointment with your career advisor to discuss the resources provided to help you.

No matter what class standing you are, you can attend the SCAD Career Fair! The career fair is a good resource that SCAD provides to connect you to possible future employers. Even if you just attend group meetings, you can still get valuable information from actual industry companies. Good luck at the Career Fair, everyone!
